boyfriends

This was one of my favorite scenes. I just found Seto not being a total jerk to more people than just Mokuba and actually being super focused on the greater good and being extremely loyal to Atem and Egypt really heartwarming. And on top of that, after watching them battle and have this intense rivalry for so long and only fight on the same side begrudgingly, seeing that Atem and Seto actually were friends (though, perhaps not in the same way that Atem was with Mahad and Mana, who were like his brother and sister) who were very proud to fight by each other’s sides in addition to being earnestly trusting and respectful of one another instead of just being like: “You’re good, I’ll give you that,” and especially to see them genuinely and honestly smiling at each other, instead of just smirking and scowling was,…honestly quite moving and bittersweet for me.

Like with everything else in the Millenium World/Dawn of the Duel arc, I really wish we had gotten to see some more of it all. I found that a fair amount of this arc just added a lot to series and made a lot of things more meaningful. (Unlike the Doma and Grand Prix arcs, which, to me, really didn’t add anything and dragged the series down with character derailment and retconning and big-lipped alligator moments and wangst and whatnot)
